Chemistry Condor
Made from an old binder and lots of chemistry homework, this puppet is modeled after the critically endangered California Condor. As the largest bird in North America, California Condors have a wingspan of around 9 feet, allowing them to soar for miles at a time in their vast territories. However, in the past century, territory loss, lead poisoning, and poaching led to a dramatic decrease in their population, putting the condor at risk of extinction. While conservation efforts have raised the population considerably in recent decades, the California Condor is still considered critically endangered.
This condor puppet, created almost entirely using recycled materials, has a wingspan of six feet, a fluffy neck made from the top of an old winter boot, and a beady red gaze. If you look closely, you can see some chemistry equations on the primary feathers or the shoelace used to attach the head to the body.
